Melita Emanuel-Carr Speaks On Comeback!

Updated: Dec 1, 2021

Today marks the first professional game back for Melita Emanuel-Carr since her knee injury she suffered at the beginning of the 2019-2020 WBBL season. The former Lion has now signed with the Oakland Wolves just before the deadline, prior to signing with the Wolves Emanuel-Carr had been on a focused rehab regime to get her into playing form again. Melita speaks on how she's feeling ahead today's game.

"Im feeling anxious and unusual as its been so long since my last game (1 year and a half). Ive been working relentlessly especially in the gym, so I'm not worried about being only seven months into post surgery."

The GB guard has been out of in-game situations for almost two years, and working out can only do so much to prepare an athlete for actually in game basketball. She has been working tirelessly with trainers on court and in the weight room as seen here with basketball skills trainer Afiz Olaniyan - Way2Work.

when we asked Emanuel-Carr about how confident and prepared she feels for in-game competition she speaks on not being able to scrimmage much due to joining the team halfway through the WBBL but believes her experience and IQ will take lead until her body is used the up and down game.

"Its been hard coming back in half way through the season, so I haven’t been able to scrimmage as much as I would have liked but I'm sure my IQ will carry me through until my body catches up."

Melita has played in various countries at high levels and has represented her country on multiple occasions, despite being out for a while, her experience and hardworking attitude during her rehab is sure to lead her to success with the Wolves for the rest of the WBBL season.
